Doctors Vision Center July Hero: The New Bern Office Optical Staff and Practice Manager
John-Michael Dupre, of New Bern, NC, was scheduled to attend officer training when he approached the Doctors Vision Center staff with an urgent request. Before he could return for training he needed to obtain important prescription eye-protection. But, due to extenuating circumstances, the eyewear he required was not scheduled to be ready in time for his departure. Recognizing Mr. Dupre’s dependence on this special order eyewear, Lori Rose and her staff at the New Bern Doctors Vision Center office went beyond the call of duty.
Lori went out of her way to expedite the eyewear order realizing the essential role it played in Mr. Dupre’s military training. The fact is that without his protective prescription eyewear, he could not complete his military training. Beyond making sure the eyewear arrived in time, Lori took it upon herself to be available to personally deliver the protective eyewear to a location two and a half hours away.
John-Michael Dupre could not have been more pleased with the effort that Lori and her staff exhibited and commented that “the New Bern staff kept me proactively informed of issues at the off-site lab which delayed the completion of my safety glasses until the very day of my deployment . . . Going above and beyond what would normally be expected. I got my eyewear and had all I needed to confidently serve our country”.
“Eyewear, in some cases, is taken for granted as ‘just a pair of glasses’” according to Lori Rose, New Bern office manager. “But in this case it was necessary for a member of our armed forces to have a pair in hand prior to deployment for officer training. The least we could do was to protect the eyes of a member of our military who does so much to protect all of us everyday,” added Rose.
The Doctors Vision Center Heroes award is given to the optometric professionals who demonstrate excellence in services to our customers or who may have had a direct impact on the lives or sight of our patients. The recipient of July’s DVC Heroes award is presented to Lori Rose and the optical staff in the New Bern office in appreciation for their dedication to John-Michael Dupre. The prescription protective eyewear ultimately arrived in time for his training, but the customer service displayed was exceptional. They truly put into practice Doctors Vision Center’s belief of the importance and appreciation of every one of our patients.
“Congratulations to Lori Rose and her optical staff as the Doctors Vision Center July 2011 Heroes of the Month. It is this kind of service that exemplifies our commitment not just to quality eye care but to serving our patients no matter what it takes,” said William Hollis, President of Doctors Vision Center. “On behalf of all of us at Doctors Vision Center, we certainly wish Mr. Dupre all the best with his officer training and thank him and all military for their service to our country.”
